thrifting.

Last week I enjoyed a great day of thrifting with my Mom. With the sun shinning and lattes in hand, we set out to score some treasures. Here are a few of my favorite finds of the day! I love them all and couldn’t be happier that the most expensive item was $7.

This red silk blouse is one of my favorite vintage clothing finds in a long time! Rarely do I find a piece of vintage clothing that isn’t a “project”…meaning something that requires repairs and significant alternations to fit me correctly. Whenever I buy these types of items, they just end up migrating farther and farther back in my closet to be dealt with “one day”.
Fortunately, that wasn’t the case with this fab find. It’s in perfect condition, all the black piping and fabric covered buttons are pristine. I like the loose fit and delicate print. Plus, it was only $4. While I have a ton of vintage accessories (jewelry, scarves, clutches, you name it), finding this top has renewed my desire to hunt for vintage clothing.

My best friend recently bestowed upon me my first MAC lipgloss, Dazzleglass in Smile, a gift for being a Bridesmaid in her wedding. It’s a gorgeous peachy-pink color, glossy and think, it stayed on well during a long day of photo’s. Since then, I have added Lusterglass in Love Nectar to my makeup regime. It’s a bit more subtle and perfect for my low-key everyday look.

books.

I just finished reading the new Sophie Kinsella book, Twenties Girl. I found it a little slow in the beginning, but by the time I was finished, I was sad to put it down. Between the busyness of the last few months, and how easy it can be to get caught up in the inter-world, I haven’t been reading a lot as of late. It reminded me how much I love to read. Books, books, books, here I come.

home.

After making a decent dent in the outdoor ‘recovery’ I’ll call it of our new property, I have manage to convince my husband that it’s time to stop neglecting the indoors and begin a few new projects. Enter ensuite and office remodeling! Not small jobs, I am pleased to see them getting under way. And while there is still a sizable chunk of summer left, we can escape to our enjoyable back deck when the dust and disorder are too much to bear.

I love this fun and flirty French Connection dress seen here on Stephanie Pratt. It’s prefect for summer, yet, would be just as cute with tights and perhaps a *cough* cardigan *cough*. (Just a little joke for those who know of my insatiable thirst for cardi’s!) Personally, I don’t think I’ve seen a better pic of Ms. Pratt. I heart her clutch and the fact that she didn’t over accessorize.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the hot, hot sun, but after our recent heat wave, I have to admit that I am enjoying my wardrobe again. I love layering up, and feeling a little bit cozy while I am out and about in the world.

I seriously heart the comfort and simplicity of this look seen on Lauren Conrad. Dark skinny jeans, a classic white tee in an of-the-moment, oversized fit, and camel-colored leather accessories. I’m heading out to meet a friend for coffee and I wish I was wearing this ensemble.
Wait a second! Holy basic pieces Batman, this look can easily be recreated with a trip to my closet. Go ahead, give it a try!
