“I’m Wired” and “High Maintenance”

If I’ve have a lot of caffeine I might be referred to as “wired” and “high maintenance”, but today I’m talking about my nail polish! Hee hee. My Mom treated me to these two gorgeous spring-y colours earlier this week. A departure from my repertoire of red, uber-dark, and nude with a dash of gold.
My digits are displaying “I’m Wired” (right) and I seriously couldn’t stop staring at my hands while I snacked on some delicious honeydew melon. The pale green and “electric peach” (as the Sephora website describes the nailpolish) was a mesmerizing combination. Seriously, I stared like a zombie while my hand traveled from my plate to my mouth.
Can we just go on a bit of a tangent here and talk about honeydew melon? It’s my current obsession. Which is weird because I’ve often though of it as fruit salad “filler”, you know, the fruit you begrudgingly eat while foraging for the good stuff…strawberries, kiwi, grapes…
Ok, back to the polish. Both my bestie and sister-in-law were rocking awesome orangey-red toes this passed weekend, so I couldn’t help jumping on the band wagon with “High Maintenance” (left). Since I’m not big on a lot of bright colours in my wardrobe, accessories and nail polish are the perfect way for me to inject some cheerfully-bright goodness.
Oh, I almost forgot to ask you for advice! I have the driest hands EVER. I told Mr. that I want to chop them off I’m that annoyed by their sandpaper-esque-ness. Does anyone have any miracle cures to share? Between preparing a million meals and changing a million diapers, I’m can’t avoid washing my hands all day which I know is drying. Recently I bucked up for some L’Occitane hand cream but I’m feeling rather underwhelmed by the results.

I use Lush Lemony Flutter Cuticle Butter, I don’t know if Lush is available to you but its wonderful! and I also have J.R. Watkins hand and cuticle salve, Its available in most drug stores! BEAUTY colors :)
I also have the driest hands EVERRRR. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is also unreal!
Eucerin Healing Ointment (the kind in the small tube that most people use on their lips) works really well! When my little sister was younger, her hands were horribly dry. My mom bought special gloves, and would make her sleep in them after slatherin her hands in vaseline. It did the trick!
I agree with Lindsay’s product. I have used it. I have the same problem. Raw cuticles. I use another product by Fresh, Kinda pricey. I’ll have to give it up. It’s a healer for the face. It’s their cream made by monks. Comes in a small size but still
pricey. I’m buying the Neutrogena next.
i feel your pain with those dry hands… and i agree that anything labeled Neutrogena Norwegian Formula is the best solution! I use it all the time and the results are instant!!
These polishes are great! I love the melon. SO cute.

I love orange nails! I always choose orange when I get a pedicure! : )
And honeydew is my favorite fruit! I LOVE IT!
I also have to wash my hands constantly but I find when I really try to put lotion on every time I dry them off, my hands are so much better in just a few days. It just takes a little bit more commitment for me. I’ve been rocking a electric melon color too! I love it!!
I have super dry hands too, to the point they crack and bleed. Neutrogena always, always works for me. I also dab a little bit of e
Elizabeth arden 8 hour cream. Btw, is it just me or are the sephora nail polishes a little more “watery” than normal opi polishes?
Oooh!! Nice color contrast… Im telling you, buy some aquaphor, and you will NEVER have dry hands or cracked cuticles again… i slather it on my hands at night, and have a little tube in my makeup bag…. Read this post, it has more info…

I <3 your blog!
ive never thought about it like that, but it totally is the “filler” fruit! ha!
Nat, coconut oil is a miracle cure for dry hands and actually any skin ailment. I just lather up my hands for a while then pat them dry with a cloth. You must try. Ali J xo
I just discovered your blog, and I love it!
I love those colors, I’m getting a manicure tomorrow, maybe I’ll go with something like those two!
Pretty shades of polish…
Shea butter is a great
moisturizer.
I use Island Essentials Lavender and Orange Lotion and I work in a school library and wash my hands constantly…
paper and books are hard on the hands…
it’s all organic too!
Good luck on your search for the perfect cream.

I LOVE the generic Moroccan Oil at Sally’s Beauty Supply (One ‘n Only) for dry hands. I have tried every cream under the sun, and this one is pure magic. I put it on at night and then pop on gloves or clean socks. It absorbs pretty fast, so you may not even wish to use gloves… And it’s surprisingly non-greasy for an oil. Let us know what you like! :) Kiki
Oh my word, those colors are great!!
And… when my hands get really bad I use regular ‘ol vaseline with some white gloves while I’m sleeping. Works like a charm!
gorgeous color, and that melon looks tasty! for hands I always use honey based balm, in Serbia we call it melem!
I have a really big problem with dry hands too and just started using a new lotion recently. It’s called Glycerine Hand Therapy by Camille Beckman. My mom got it for me as a gift and I know that line has a lot of great scents. Also, sometimes when my hands are especially dry, I apply a thin layer of Vaseline before going to bed. It makes me feel like an old lady but it works!
When I use to work retail, our store carried Crabtree & Evelyn. I always thought of it as a grandma brand. However, they have some great products. People who had severe dry hands would stock up on this product – Crabtree & Evelyn’s Gardners 60-Second Fix Kit for Hands. First you apply Hand Recovery, the hand treatment cleanses, exfoliates, and moisturises. Follow with their intensive Hand Therapy for soft hands all day :) They also have Gardners Hand Soap because I know for me after washing my hands my skin feels so dry. Hope this helps!
Pretty colors! Very lively.
Wish I had an answer for the dry hands. I think I’ll try a couple of the suggestions. Washing hands 1000 times a day really takes it’s toll, doesn’t it?
Love these colors! The High Maintenance reminds me of my favorite Essie from last summer: Clambake. Check it out!

Oh and I finally broke out my red pants last week – did you ever end up buying yours? ;)
Love these colors! Great suggestions on dry hand remedies, may have to try a few out!
