It’s no secret that I love nail polish. In fact, I think it’s fair to say that I’m pretty much a nail polish ‘never nude’. Lately I’ve been testing out the oh-so-popular waters of painting my ring finger a different shade.
So tell me, what’s your favourite shade or trend right now? I haven’t yet tried Salon Effects (late to that party I know!) so, that might next. But I’m always looking for a new shade so recommend away!!
Wearing – Sephora by OPI: Do I Know You?, and OPI: Glitzerland

Not one part of my outfit is from Madewell, but I felt very Madewell-esque yesterday. Like I was chaneling Alexa Chung (although I’m definitely not as cool, and probably not as hungry).

home.

Over the last little while I’ve received quite a few emails (Thank you! I love hearing from you!) asking about our house. So, I thought it might be fun to post some pics and show you all around.
Like many of you, we are swimming in renovations. Big & small. We are projecting, painting, scrapping, fixing, replacing and getting rid of eyesore-uglies. On the weekends we call it being ‘projuctive’ (projecting & being productive). A rather ironic name for an activity that inevitably only lasts for the duration of our small person’s nap (and even during that time, hammering, powertools and well, noise of any kind, are totally forbidden).
All of this is perpetuating a very snail like pace to progress.
Thankfully, since we bought this house a year and a half before the baby arrived we did manage to overhaul a few rooms before chaos ensued.
Hands down, our favourite room in the house is our daughter’s. Since we designed it before she was born, not knowing that she was a she, it had to be gender neutral. Oh, the hours I spent googling ‘modern unisex nursery’ only to be let down by the lack of inspiration. In the end, it came together better than both of us imaged. And it’s by far, the room I’m most excited to share. Stay tuned!

Top photo – our bedroom. Bottom photo – the baby’s room.

Bam! A big stack of fake rock and some rustic chips of wood. How’s that for a cool locale?! Uber chic fashion bloggers, eat your heart out!

On the left is a view of my boots from space. Ha ha. Jokes. I’ve always wanted to say that. Seriously though, on the left is a view of my boots from my perspective while swinging on a giant chair. Have you guys seen these babies? Modern parks are awesome. As a new regular to the modern park circuit, I’m telling ya, these places aren’t what they used to be. Swing sets now include what I like to call ‘the lazy-parent swing’, merry go rounds are for 1 (a wickedly dizzying combination of a small circle for your feet and a pole to hold on to), and teeter totters are for many (usually in the form of a large vehicle). When did all that happen?

My brother made this hammered copper pendant and I’ve been wearing it non stop for days now. I love just how heavy and minimalistic it is.
Is it really Monday? Can’t we just say no thank you and have another Sunday? Please?

Last week I tweeted something like:
If I was going to write a book today it would be called Why Does the Phone Only Ring at Nap Time?
Many of my wonderful tweepeople agreed that their book would be called the same thing, others offered variations on my theme.
Since then, it has often popped into my head again. What would my book be called today?
I’ve now “written” Every Park should have a Coffee Cart and There are Flats in my Bag.
Today’s Friday (as if you needed a reminder!), so tell me my pretties, if you had to sum up this week with a book title, what would yours be called??

Isn’t there something just so lovely and romantic about lighthouses? I hadn’t been to visit this one since I was a kid, so I thought it would be swell to drag the fam there this past weekend.

This is the light keepers boat. When the lighthouse was built there was no foot path. The keeper had to row out to tend to the light (or whatever it is that a light keeper does).

A somewhat akward shot due to the following conversation.
Me: are you taking it now?
Hubs: are you ready?
Me: are you watching the baby?
Hubs: you’re watching the baby.
Me: I’m watching the baby.
Me again: *insert whiney voice here* I’m never going to have fun ‘location’ shots for my blog like all the other cool kids do. *end whiny voice*
Hubs: what??
Me: Nothing, take the picture please. Ooohhh, why did I forget my sunnies in the car?!
Hubs: you don’t need new sunnies!
Snap!
Me: Oh man, I wasn’t ready!
The End.
Forget about outfit pics as usual, back to the fam. Aren’t they are cute pair?

I wanted to show you my new boots. A very persistent little person wanted to show you my deodorant.

In my heart of hearts, I’m hoping that you spent much of last week saying to yourself where’s my good friend Nat & her awesome blog posts?
I wish I could entertain you with an extraordinary tale of how I was swept away on some luxurious vacation, but sadly, I can only tell you that my laptop is broken. It’s kind of disturbing how lost I feel without it. Not wanting to ignore you any longer, I put together this post using Mr.’s lappy, where everything seems to work differently *sigh*. Hopefully, my good ol’ friend and I will be united by the end of the week. Until then, I will pull of my proverbial sox and blog away through unfamiliar program versions and funny feeling keys.
Now that my abscense has been accounted for. What do you think of my boots? They’re my first Fall-ish purchase. Since these Rachel Comey boots are way out of my mommy-on-a-budget price range, I picked up this pair at American Eagle and saved myself over $340. Not a bad days work. (If you need a little Rachel Comey boot wearing inspiration, just drop by Blushing Ambition!)
So, tell me, what’s new with you?!

As strange as it is to say, this simple little weekend look has been years in the making. It all started back in 2009, when I bought this top at a thrift store. It’s been on the blog before and I capital L, Love it. Love, Love it. In 2010 I developed a bit of an obsession for the Rebecca Taylor Scarlet Poppies print (see the dress version here) and in my desire to stalk the print online, I can across this photo and the inspiration to create my own version of that look.
If you read that old post, you’ll know that I came across the outfit pic in February of 2010. Not exactly shorts season. By the time the warm weather arrive I was VERY pregnant, only then to be follow by that scary post-partum body phase and the end of the warm weather.
So now it’s 2011, and I can finally cross wearing this outfit off my life list. Perhaps this is a bit of a pointless little saga, but I barely blabbered to you at all last week, so I figured you wouldn’t mind. xx
