Mini Pumpkin Vase DIY

Last night we enjoyed a really wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with my family. I hope many of my Canadian friends will be joining me in wearing stretchy pants for the rest of the week. Since I’m a veggie, I can’t really blame my lazy-sleepiness on a turkey coma, so I’m opting to hold the apple pie accountable. It took me two days to bake it (not the entire two days, but pie baking is serious business!), and then mere moments to devour more than my fair share! YUM.

Anyhoo, this post isn’t about pie as you can clearly see. How cute is this wee little pumpkin?? I thought about taking my Mom (our Thanksgiving host) some flowers, but this seemed like a lot more fun, and seasonally festive! And so easy to put together.

All you need is a mini pumpkin (available at most grocery stores), a sharp knife, a spoon (I find grapefruit spoons work most excellently for scrapping pumpkin guts), and a little holder for the water/flowers. In this case I used a tiny egg cup, but a tea light holder or tiny jar also work.

Hallow out your pumpkin and pop in your holder. Then be creative and fill your vase! This little gem makes a wonderful hostess gift.

  8. Genius. I think I need to make a few of these for my son’s first birthday party. The color theme is orange and teal AND the party falls on the weekend before Halloween. Pinning this now. :)
