Vacation Times Part 2

Is it just me, or are mini cupcakes totally irresistible?! Do you have a favourite flavour?

The Fountain – the only downside of penny extinction. I’m now shelling out the big bucks (nickels & dimes baby) to make my ladyloo happy!

Also, I love it when watered-down apple juice looks like a highball. Swanky toddler.

Slap a triangle dress on that small child and Ikea has signage for our soon to be family dynamic. Love that!

What pregnant lady can resist a $1 cinnimon bun? Ok, probably lots can. I have no willpower.

Some toddlers are very advanced. I kid.

I promise I’ll start wearing a different colour of nail polish for a while.

Black and white pillows tend to follow me home. It’s not my fault.

And, done. Nighty-nite. xx

Pregnancy Update

And here we are. I’m jumping on the Pregnancy Update’s bandwagon. I was sort of on the fence about doing them, but I like to read the ones done by other bloggers, so why not?! Let me know what you think! If I should add questions or take ones away! Thanks! xx

How far along: 22 weeks. More than half way!

Weight Gain: Eeeeek. A. LOT. I’m not sure of the exact number right now, but it’s around 20 lbs.

Maternity clothes: 4 pairs of maternity skinny jeans. I’m going to need some shorts ASAP if this heat sticks around!

Stretch marks: None yet. I didn’t get any with my first pregnancy so fingers crossed.

Sleep: Pretty decent this week. I was getting lots of leg cramps earlier on but those seem to have subsided.

Miss anything: Shopping!!! This is the first Spring/Summer season that my city has had Forever 21, H&M AND Target. I’m drooling over this newfound selection of shorts, rompers, and sundresses!

Movement: TONS. It’s a wild one in there.

Cravings: Cookies and muffins and chocolate, oh my. I’m trying to replace that with carrots and spinach and brown rice, yippy. Anyone know a good hypnotist?

Gender: I don’t know and we’re keeping it a surprise. I keep trying to decide who I think is in there, but I really don’t have a strong feeling one way or the other. With my daughter, although we didn’t know, by the end of my pregnancy I was sure I was having a girl.

Symptoms: Super tired by dinner time but that’s about it. Oh, and reduced mental capacity. Ha ha, see I forgot that one. I break things, I drop things, I spill things on my kids head, I say words that aren’t real words.

Wedding rings on or off: Sigh. Reduced from 3 bands to just squishing on my engagement ring.

Happy or moody: Ha ha. This question would best be directed at the hubs! Happy mostly I think. Perhaps the odd hunger or heat-related bout of rage.

Looking forward to: Being a bit more active. We’ve had a very busy few weeks with bits of travel and various sicknesses. I’d like to break out some of my pregnancy fitness DVDs and work in a bit more exercise. Because I seem to text my friends a lot of pictures that look like this:

Vacation Times – Part 1

I love to get away. Big or little, any kinda trip makes me pretty happy. So, last weekend, quite spur of the moment, we decided to pack our bags and head out to sea (and then land again).

What better way to start a little trip-trappin’ than a breakie of cold, leftover pizza?! YUM. And I know I already mentioned it, but I’m bananas for this nail polish (it’s much more forrest green in person). I topped it off with Debroah Lippmann On A Clear Day for extra an extra glossy finish.

Buddy the Bear was pretty stoked to be getting out of town as well! You can totally see it in his eyes right? I think he’s smize-ing, bear-style.

The little lady loved the ‘big white boat’.

Isn’t a sunny day on the water just the prettiest?

Why, hello Mr! It looks like you might have a secret you’d like to share…

…Baby number 2 is on the way!

More riveting photos of our getaway coming at ya soon! xx

Fun Things Friday

I don’t think this week could get any rainier. I’m thinking of building a boat. Thankfully, I have these boots to be my constant companion.

Hello patterns. You make cozy time so much more fun.

I made this salad last night. It’s become one of my all time faves. Speaking of salads, do you have a favourite type?

What should we have for dinner? is seriously one of my least favourite questions. Lately, we’ve been trying to simplify and I’ve been surprised to discover that delicious results can come quickly and with only a few ingredients. I’d love to hear recommendations for easy/tasty dinners!

My mother-in-law treated me to this green nail polish last week and I’m love love loving it!

The weekend is on our doorsteps my friends! I couldn’t be more excited to have a super lazy Saturday with my lovely little fam. What are you going to get up to? xx

So Yeah, I’m A Plant Killer

Most weekend days we head out of the house first thing in the morning in search of some sort of adventure. Priorities in check, coffee and eats kick things off. I enjoy making the Mr. recite a super complicated beverage order at the Starb’s drive through. Muuuaaahhhh.

Last weekend we stopped a nursery and checked out some pretty cool plants. I want to like gardening (the way I wish I liked running). But the whole bugs in the dirt business puts me off.

So, while my thumb is definitely not green, I always wonder if I could reform my ways and manage to keep a house plant alive. I’d love to know if anyone has been able to successfully switch gears and become a nurturing plant-parent after a dubious past?

Fun (& YUMMY) Things Friday!

Who’s feeling the LOVE? Less than a week until Valentine’s Day. Do you have any special plans this year??

This picture begins an embarrassing parade of treats that I gobbled up this week. I’m blaming the time of year, you’re with me right?! Please tell me I’m not alone!

Other than blaming the time of year I’m going to blame a little bit of treat indulgence on having a toddler. Our first attempt at making rice crispies together was pretty flippin’ fun…and sticky.

Ummmm, these are vegetable cookies…yeah, that’s it. Really.

In an attempt to redeem myself in some small way, this is my current go to breakfast. I used to be all about the pb on toast, but I’ve totally reformed. I wanted to get more fruit into my morning routine so I made myself like oatmeal. Have you ever done that? I really didn’t like it at first but after a few weeks I’m totally hooked. Funny how that works hey?!

So….I’m back to blogging but haven’t been very good about posting. Sigh. Sorry. Next week will be better I promise. As soon as I started blogging again, I started reading blogs again. Oh my gosh, does that just suck your time or what?! In a good way! But also in a I-didn’t-achieve-anything-myself way.

Happy weekending my sweets! xx

Fun Things Friday!

First Michelle Obama showed off those amazing bangs and then I came across this pic on Pinterest. Oh, don’t toy with me!! Now I’m on the ‘should i – shouldn’t i’ train again.

I’m a new reader of the blog Jen Loves Kev (I guess I’ve been living under a rock). And this week I went mad for the black triangles on the gorgeous lady’s wall. We’re just starting to reno our guest room and I see triangles in our future!

What is it about being in the car and the need to take a self portrait??

I’m loving this Forever 21 necklace. Minty delight, I’m pretending it’s spring.

Epic play dough concentration. So cute. So quite. Ahhhhh….

Do you ever get fixated on a certain food and want to eat it again and again? I’m on a total home-made pizza kick right now. I could seriously have it every night for dinner. So many toppings, so many flavour possibilities! What nummy-nummies are you loving right now?

Fun Things Friday!

Happy Friday my loves!! Who’s excited about the weekend?? Um, me please *hands up high*. What exciting plans lay ahead for you? We’re going on a mini road trip tomorrow. Just a little day jaunt to see a very special Birthday girl. Here’s hoping that cartoons on the ipad make 4 hours in the car a happy time for us all.

So, whoever thought up the first kid-friendly cafe has got to be a king among men, or a queen among women, or how about, a royal among humans…you get my drift. With the cold of winter, the little and I both LOVE Crumbsy’s. It’s a fantastic local spot, but you probably have something similar in your neck of the woods (at least I hope you do!). There’s toys (and cupcakes) for her, and amazing coffee and treats for me. I sit, she plays, we sanitize our hands like madmen when we leave (kids are germy little things), and the dark days don’t seem nearly as long.

So, there’s kid-focused coffee shops on one end, Starbucks in the middle, and then those hipster-cool coffee spots at the other end. (Where you are stared at like a leper if you walk in with a toddler. Um, with your giant headphones on you can’t even hear my kid singing Pop Goes The Weasel.)

Anyhoo…In the fall the little and I started having a weekly date at another local spot Cafe 932. And while not at all kid-focused, after a couple weeks of our regular patronage, they so thoughtfully produced a little basket of toys. Sigh. Isn’t kindness wonderful? Not to mention the fact that they seriously, have the best peanut-butter-chocolate-chip cookie on the face of the earth. I dare you to doubt me…I’ll mail you one.

And just to prove that after drinking all that coffee, we actually do get outside once in a while, I give you the wintery beach.

I’m going to out my inner nerd a bit here and tell you a funny(ish?) story. For ages, I had been mentioning to the hubs that I want a rock polisher (blush). I thought it would be fun! We often come home from the beach with weighed down pockets full of treasures. It seemed like a great parent-tot project, magically polish up a lovely little rock, all cold and smooth. Please tell me I’m not the only one who thought glossy rocks were cool as a child?!

So, the holidays come and go, and the we’re driving in the car one day and the Mr. mentions that he was going to get me a rock polisher for Christmas. Intrigued, I launch into a barrage of questions. And do you want to know why he didn’t buy one? (I’m sure the suspense is killing you.) Because it takes TWO WHOLE MONTHS to polish a rock!! And the machine makes NOISE the entire time. Because, hello, it’s tumbling ROCKS. AND, he read that sometimes the machines break down before your rock actually gets polished! Because again, it’s noisily tumbling ROCKS for TWO WHOLE MONTHS…inside your house. For some reason, I found this all to be completely hysterical. Maybe you had to be there?

So that’s it kids, if you made it through this whole blabbery post, you deserve a medal, or at least the bestest weekend wishes I can mentally send your way. xxxxxxxx
