Happy hearts! As soon as I saw this pin (yes, I’m Pinterest crazy, I know!), I knew that I had to make a bunch to include in my Valentine’s cards. Aren’t they so sweet?! They’re super easy and inexpensive to make. A perfect little DIY. Here’s some simple instructions just in case you’re wondering:
1. Determine the size of the heart you’d like and cut it out of paper to use as a template. (Base your heart off of the corner of a piece of paper. That way you’ll have the right angle needed to fit the book page.)
2. Trace a bunch of hearts onto felt. I made dark and light grey, cream, burgundy and bright red.
3. Stitch two pieces of felt together using complimentary thread. Again, think about keeping the corner angle for the page to slip into and stitch about half way down and around. (I choose a ‘back side’ and kept the tiny little knots of thread exposed.)

TODAY’S LOVE TIP: Get complimentary! Yesterday, I thought my hair looked like a hot mess when I left the house. But then the wonderful Starbuck’s cashier told me that my hair looked awesome. Instant mood boost! What a sweetie. So, today I’m going to pay it forward and compliment people I cross paths with. xx

TGIF my loves! I’ve been waiting rather impatiently for Friday to arrive. The little one is going to her Grandma’s and I’m going for a message!!! It’s the first time in 19 months that I’ve left her to go and pamper myself a bit. And my bestie recently gave my a gifty to a lovely wool shop, so if I remember how to function after my message I think I’ll go and pick out some swanky new knitting needles. F.U.N.
But enough about me. Let’s talk about Love. And this seriously cute heart garland! It was inspired by a lovely little knitting project I saw online awhile ago (don’t you hate it when you don’t bookmark things?!). Anyhoo, since I don’t have the ability to knit a heart (yet), I opted for the next best thing, a stack of sturdy red card stock. Throw in some rustic jute twine and simple supplies and you have yourself an easy (& awesome) DIY.

Once I decided on the size of heart I wanted, I made a template, traced and cut out about 30 (I used about 10 per garland).

I made a bow at the loose end of the spool of jute.

And then, taped on my paper hearts. So simple right?! I hung the first one in my daughter room (pic above) and I couldn’t be more pleased with the cheerful and whimsical result.

Not wanting to take off my crafty hat, my next stop was our bedroom where I planned on hanging the other garland. But then, a little idea seed sprouted in my mind and I decided to create this (pic below) instead. I used a piece of double sided tape to stick the jute to the wall, and also to attach the hearts to the jute. I totally adore how it turned out. The hubs was rather impressed as well and even suggested that after Love Month we swap out the hearts for photographs. And who says he’s just a pretty face.

TODAY’S LOVE TIP: Make a date to watch your favourite LOVE-filled movie. Whether it’s with your patner, your bestie, your mom or yourself, make sure (insert your snack of choice here) is invited. I have a looooong list of favourite love movies but I think I’ll be watching Pretty Woman this weekend or The Notebook (if I want to sob my face off). What would you watch?? xx

Before having a baby I greatly enjoyed having an nap every once in a while. It felt relaxing and indulgent and oh so cozy. As a mom, I’m not a very good adult-napper. Even when I know I should probably catch up on some rest while my baby is sleeping, I shun naps. Why waste my time (the magical mother word) with rest when I could do this (blog), accomplish that (laundry), catch up with so-and-so (lovely friends), or simply stare into space and enjoy being alone. As a mom, baby naps = sanity. I love baby naps.
So, what’s it like when your little lovey stops napping? I fear that I’m on the brink of this scary unknown. For my fellow mommas out there, when did your wee one stop napping? How did you survive?
And for everyone, what do we all think about adult-naps? Yay or nay? Cuddly and awesome or unproductive and irresponsible?
TODAY’S LOVE TIP: Doodle some HEARTS my friends! Whether it’s your grocery list, your work, your bills, etc…attack it with hearts! It will make you smile, I promise. xx

1. It’s even chilly inside! Thank goodness for cozy slippers. While hanging out at home today my hands were freezing and I looked down at my toasty feet and thought, man, someone needs to invite slippers for your hands!!!! Duh, Nat. They’re called gloves. Mommy brain strikes again.
2. Strapping bells to various body parts has made for some top notch entertainment while stuck inside.

3. Bring on the hot bevies! I drink from the never ending fountain of warmth.
4. Pretty view from our lower deck. Ok, now melt. Thanks.

5. Has anyone tried EOS lip balm? I just bought Sweet Mint, and my lips are doing a serious happy dance. It smells and taste delish. It totally moisturized my dry lips and it’s super fun to use/roll on the floor (a bonus if you have a dog, small child, or if you just like that sort of thing).
6. There’s something about the snow that has thrown me into a potentially problematic bake, eat, snack, eat, bake, eat cycle. When I need a break from vegetables like chocolate cake and cinnamon buns I can’t resist grabbing a handful of this crunchy Kashi cereal.
Enough of my nonsense. I have tons more Pinspiration coming atcha next week, so until then, stay warm and cozy my lovelies and have a happy weekend!! xx

4. Classy & romantic, nachos eaten from the pan, tasty champers and the ever-present baby monitor.
5. A winter beach adventure.

6. Who knew a light switch cover plate could be so darn swanky! New stainless steel covers for our kitchen outlets.
7. Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.

8. Years from now I may look back on this time in my life and say why so much leopard? Nah.
9. While I’m not complaining about my collection of bags, this little gem is my sister-in-laws. Loverly hey?!

10. His.
11. Hers.

12. Planned to wear this.
13. Actually wore this.

14a. Why is it soooooo appealing to cut your own hair before you go to bed? Brush teeth…wash face…cut bangs?
14b. I am now jonsing to start an indie girl band called Midnight Bangs!
14c. Wow, I just caught the double entendre there. Well, that should make us popular.

Omgosh, I’m sure a bandwagon-er hey?! Whatevs. I love it when bloggers post their fave lil’ instagram snaps. It feels a bit ‘behind the scenes’ to me, which I think is really fun. So, here you go my friends. A little bit of my weekend. Hope you had a fab one! xx
Can you believe that it’s the last day of November? Holy Moly, where did the year go??
I’m just starting to feel human again after another stomach flu (pretty much the worse thing in existence). It’s been a special few days and I even have some chipped teeth to prove it (don’t ask). I’ve been living in sweatpants and my Mr’s t’shirts, so I’m sadly lacking in outfit posts.
But I do have some kitchen odds and ends to blabber on about! What do you think, can kitchen stuff be exciting or is your oven just used for storage like Carrie?
Here are a few of my favourite things in my kitchen and a few more that I’d like to add:

2012 Stendig Calendar
I have a huge empty wall by my kitchen table that is crying out for this calendar…which is, dun dun dun…SOLD OUT. Aww man!

Joseph Joseph Melamine Bread Bin in White
I don’t think I’ve ever been lustful towards a bread box until now. However, there is a good chance that in several days I will be blaming this craziness on too much neocitran *bases covered* fffeeeww.

Ikea Bondis Wall Clock
Tick tock goes the clock. Although, not really. We’ve had this clock for a while and I don’t think I’ve heard a tick. Or a tock for that matter. It’s fairly large and oh-so awesome in my opinion. It’s one of my favourite Ikea buys.

Bodum Bistro Toaster in Chrome
I also have this toaster and I LOVE it. Doesn’t it look like can make a mean piece of toast? And fight crime? Yes, yes it does.

Leah Duncan Tea Towels
I was searching Etsy for towels (I figured I might want a few with straight seams) and I stumbled upon Leah Duncan’s shop. And now, I’m obsessed with everything there. Towels and so much more!
So, my lovelies, what is your favourite thing in your kitchen? What would you like to add?
