Junk Food

The super nice peeps over at Junk Food Clothing Co. sent me this tee to style up in my own way as part of a fun blogger project they’ve got goin’ on. When it arrived at the beginning of the week I was excited by the endless outfit possibilities. I was immediately pulled by the idea of dressed up/dressed down contrast, envisioning the rockin’ tee with a crisp blazer and dark skinny’s for a polished look, or girlied up with a lace mini. Then, things happened.

It was as if some force of nature did not want me to get my outfit photos snapped. From a hidden tripod, to torrential rain when I had a arranged for a photoshoot helper, to worst of all, a smashed to smithereens camera lens. For 3 days I tried to capture my look and did not succeed.

Enter today, a new day and the final day to send my pic to Junkfood. Feeling a bit defeated by my failed attempts, a new look was born along with my new badass attitude to crush these photos (ie, achieve taking them). Channelling saucy-Sandy from Grease, I grabbed my shiny pants and went for a badass, no fuss, takin’ charge, kinda outfit.

I quickly snapped some pictures, keeping a keen eye out for any potential disasters and then hopped in the car and went to a class entitled Terrific Toddlers. Just try and steal my play dough why don’t cha! Badass indeed.

M to the I to the A

Hello my Lovelies! I hope that life is treating you fantastically! Sorry to disappear on you for a teeny bit. Super huge thanks to everyone who has been keeping in touch via email, comments and twitter!

The hubs has been working crazy hours and traveling, and the wee one and I have been having some serious discussions about standing on furniture and hand holding in public, and the blog just sort of had a time out.

So, let’s get all caught up on life. What’s new in your world??

I took these pics before our glorious streak of warmth and sunshine started. And before my bloggy time out. When life gets crazy, I tend to wear a couple of my favourite outfits over and over and over (which make for a very interesting blog).

Outfit Details: Petticoat Alley top (last seen here), Gap cardi, Joe Jeans, Calvin Klein shoes, Aldo ring

Laid Back, Title Please

A while ago I wrote a post where I talked about making up a pretend book title that reflected my life at the time:

‘If I was going to write a book today it would be called Why Does the Phone Only Ring at Nap Time?’

I asked you, what your book would be called and the comments were AWESOME. So, my friends, let’s play again!

This week, I’ve “written” There Is A Raisin Stuck To My Shoe and When Driving Home Alone, It’s Best NOT To Get Into The Passenger Side Of Your Car.

Silliness hey?!

Hit me with your titles please!!

Layer Cake & Winning

I would like to preface this post by making serval comments about the weather, but I’ve banned myself from talking about the weather on my blog because 1. I do it way to much and 2. Hello? SNORE! Who wants to read about the weather?

Since I can’t seem to shake this feeling of total closet boredom AND I’ve sewn on more buttons in the last month than the entire past years of my life combined…I thought I would try a new tactic at spicing things up (and no, dear husband, it’s not to be “sluttier” as you so helpfully suggested).

My outfit plan here was to layer on many items at once in the hope that their combined effort would create an look that felt fresh and new. Goal achieved? Perhaps, the jury’s sill out.

PS – It was a cold day (where did my sunshine go??) and the layers kept me nice and cozy. Ah ha ha ha. Couldn’t resist.

Congrats to Kristen, the winner of the Lustrous Elements Giveaway! Thanks so much to everyone that entered and uber-duber (that’s really big) thanks to the lovely Erin for sharing her gorgeous creations!

Let the Sun Shine

A warm and sunny day works almost as well as chocolate at making me feel happy and energetic!

Lately I’ve been trying to revitalize my wardrobe without spending much money. And my obsession du jour is button swapping. This old striped sweater hadn’t ventured out of my closet in ages. Project time! As soon as I replaced the boring plastic buttons with a little tortoise action, I didn’t despise the sweater quite as much. Jokes jokes. While it’s not quite the same as having something new and wonderful hanging in my closet, I’m proud of myself for being resourceful and only pricking my finger once with the sewing needle. There’s nothing like a little diy injury to make you feel crafty.

Outfit Details: American Eagle top, Old Navy sweater, self destroyed Gap jeans, thrifted and gifted necklaces, Citizen watch, Gap sandals, Ray Ban sunnies

The Accessories Have It

Whenever I feel like my outfit is a little bit bland and I don’t have time to be a bit more creative, I grab a bunch of my favourite accessories and begin to feel much better.

This necklace is my favourite thrifted find since my well-loved woven loafers. I’m pretty sure it’s a bird, but it has also been suggested to resemble a bone or tool. Thoughts??

Lately I’ve been loading up on more rings than usual. What do you prefer, a stand alone statement or the more the merrier?

Vlad the Viking (ring) joined the party. Isn’t he manly?!
