Hello Yellow. I pretty much always enjoy this happy hue, but summer sunshine always makes me want to amp up my yellow-love. It’s just so versatile, pairing well with denim, neutrals and even other brights (I’m crushing on wearing my yellow sweater with bright orange nails!).

Hello my Lovelies! I hope that life is treating you fantastically! Sorry to disappear on you for a teeny bit. Super huge thanks to everyone who has been keeping in touch via email, comments and twitter!

The hubs has been working crazy hours and traveling, and the wee one and I have been having some serious discussions about standing on furniture and hand holding in public, and the blog just sort of had a time out.

So, let’s get all caught up on life. What’s new in your world??

I would like to preface this post by making serval comments about the weather, but I’ve banned myself from talking about the weather on my blog because 1. I do it way to much and 2. Hello? SNORE! Who wants to read about the weather?

Since I can’t seem to shake this feeling of total closet boredom AND I’ve sewn on more buttons in the last month than the entire past years of my life combined…I thought I would try a new tactic at spicing things up (and no, dear husband, it’s not to be “sluttier” as you so helpfully suggested).

My outfit plan here was to layer on many items at once in the hope that their combined effort would create an look that felt fresh and new. Goal achieved? Perhaps, the jury’s sill out.

PS – It was a cold day (where did my sunshine go??) and the layers kept me nice and cozy. Ah ha ha ha. Couldn’t resist.

Can I just say TGIF!! Even though we had a really fantastic week, I’m super excited to usher in the weekend. I’m oh-so looking forward to my Saturday sleep-in and a fancy-shmancy, romantic date night with my man candy. What do you have planned??

Out of all my girlie routines and requirement, I spend the least amount of time and effort on my hair. That said, nailing down products that I love has been key in making this possible and still being able to feel like I have decent hair-esteem.

Since I love to read about other peoples favourite products, I thought I’d share mine:

1. Phyto Restructuring Shampoo – My mother-in-law gave me my first Phyto product over a year ago and since then I’ve been hooked. Paraben-free, all the products smell lovely and have made a big difference in the health of my hair.

2. Phyto Restructuring Mask – This mask is a bit tough to comb through thick hair, but I take a wide tooth comb into the shower with me. It’s a bit pricy but it lasts a long time unlike other expensive treatments that I’ve tried.

3. Keratase Fibre Architecte – New to my hair arsenal, reading so positive reviews on the internet forced me to give this a try. I love, love, love it.

4. Helen Of Troy Hot Tools Curling Iron – Also rather new to me, I recently stopped using my flat iron to enhance the wave in my hair as I found my ends becoming very dry. I wish I had purchased this curling iron ages ago! The high heat allows me to curl my super thick hair quickly and I can get a few days out of the style with quick touch ups in the am.

5. Goody Blond Bobbie Pins – A must have for pinning back bangs, twists, little braids and securing buns.

6. HairArt Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron – Though I rarely straighten all my hair, I always flat iron my bangs in the morning, as they seem to party when I sleep.

7. Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo – This is hands down one of my favourite products ever. As I mentioned before, I don’t wash my hair everyday (I clip it into a bun when I shower). I know this isn’t for everyone, but I have a ton of thick hair that takes forever to dry and I just don’t want to spend any more time than absolutely necessary fussing with it. Adding a bit of dry shampoo to my bangs and roots keeps it looking and feeling fresh.

8. Goody Ouchless Clear Elastics – Clear elastics are absolutely the way to go for ponys, fishtails and braids.

A warm and sunny day works almost as well as chocolate at making me feel happy and energetic!

Lately I’ve been trying to revitalize my wardrobe without spending much money. And my obsession du jour is button swapping. This old striped sweater hadn’t ventured out of my closet in ages. Project time! As soon as I replaced the boring plastic buttons with a little tortoise action, I didn’t despise the sweater quite as much. Jokes jokes. While it’s not quite the same as having something new and wonderful hanging in my closet, I’m proud of myself for being resourceful and only pricking my finger once with the sewing needle. There’s nothing like a little diy injury to make you feel crafty.
