LOVEly Nails

Round Two of my Valentine’s-y nails (round one)! Tomorrow is the big day. What are your plans? Are you into the holiday or is it just another day?

We don’t really have anything planned. My Mr. works during the day so the little and I may go for a cupcake date. I’m hoping that our evening will be a cozy one. Delicious takeout eaten in our pyjamas while watching a child friendly movie (usually about some type of talking dog, thank you Netflix) would be right up my alley :)

Mr. Sunnies, Sunnies, Mr. Golden Sunnies

Happy Monday my lovelies! How was everyone’s weekend? Ours is a long one, the very best kind. It’s Family Day in BC today, and our weekend has been very family-ish. We’ve worked on our house, painting and cleaning, and hung out with a few of our most favourite families.

I just got these new sunnies c/o Converse. A super duper treat as I deeply lurve my sunnies. These ones are quite a bit different than my other pairs and I loved how wearing them made me feel like I had a bit of an altered identity. Ha ha!

I’m thinking that it might be time for a new spring jacket. I’ve worn this green baby so much that I’m starting to think I’m outta control (here, here & here). So, tell me, do you have a go-to jacket right now? Or one that you’re coveting for Spring??

Outfit Details: Wilfred silk tank, Aritzia jacket, Zara jeans, Roberto Vianni boots, cowl knitted by me, House of Harlow necklce, ‘Retro-Focus’ sunnies c/o Converse

Fun (& YUMMY) Things Friday!

Who’s feeling the LOVE? Less than a week until Valentine’s Day. Do you have any special plans this year??

This picture begins an embarrassing parade of treats that I gobbled up this week. I’m blaming the time of year, you’re with me right?! Please tell me I’m not alone!

Other than blaming the time of year I’m going to blame a little bit of treat indulgence on having a toddler. Our first attempt at making rice crispies together was pretty flippin’ fun…and sticky.

Ummmm, these are vegetable cookies…yeah, that’s it. Really.

In an attempt to redeem myself in some small way, this is my current go to breakfast. I used to be all about the pb on toast, but I’ve totally reformed. I wanted to get more fruit into my morning routine so I made myself like oatmeal. Have you ever done that? I really didn’t like it at first but after a few weeks I’m totally hooked. Funny how that works hey?!

So….I’m back to blogging but haven’t been very good about posting. Sigh. Sorry. Next week will be better I promise. As soon as I started blogging again, I started reading blogs again. Oh my gosh, does that just suck your time or what?! In a good way! But also in a I-didn’t-achieve-anything-myself way.

Happy weekending my sweets! xx

Fun Things Friday!

First Michelle Obama showed off those amazing bangs and then I came across this pic on Pinterest. Oh, don’t toy with me!! Now I’m on the ‘should i – shouldn’t i’ train again.

I’m a new reader of the blog Jen Loves Kev (I guess I’ve been living under a rock). And this week I went mad for the black triangles on the gorgeous lady’s wall. We’re just starting to reno our guest room and I see triangles in our future!

What is it about being in the car and the need to take a self portrait??

I’m loving this Forever 21 necklace. Minty delight, I’m pretending it’s spring.

Epic play dough concentration. So cute. So quite. Ahhhhh….

Do you ever get fixated on a certain food and want to eat it again and again? I’m on a total home-made pizza kick right now. I could seriously have it every night for dinner. So many toppings, so many flavour possibilities! What nummy-nummies are you loving right now?

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks…

I just picked up these grey leopard keds (with my Sterling Shoes money!!) and I have to say that my feet are feeling pretty happy about it. For the longest time (basically my entire life until this point), I shunned any sort of running shoe. Sure, I’ve always owned a token pair in case of sporadic temporary amnesia (where I pretend to like running…or tennis…or working out of any kind).

But ever since I got my Toms, and figured out that I could put outfits like this together and still feel like me WHILE wearing a sensible shoe, my eyes have been half opened to a new world.

So, I totally want to know…what are you thoughts on the casual runner. Do you have a favourite pair or brand? Do you wear them tons or save them for weekending? Do you stick to neutrals or play with prints? Do share my sweets!!

Fun Things Friday!

Happy Friday my loves!! Who’s excited about the weekend?? Um, me please *hands up high*. What exciting plans lay ahead for you? We’re going on a mini road trip tomorrow. Just a little day jaunt to see a very special Birthday girl. Here’s hoping that cartoons on the ipad make 4 hours in the car a happy time for us all.

So, whoever thought up the first kid-friendly cafe has got to be a king among men, or a queen among women, or how about, a royal among humans…you get my drift. With the cold of winter, the little and I both LOVE Crumbsy’s. It’s a fantastic local spot, but you probably have something similar in your neck of the woods (at least I hope you do!). There’s toys (and cupcakes) for her, and amazing coffee and treats for me. I sit, she plays, we sanitize our hands like madmen when we leave (kids are germy little things), and the dark days don’t seem nearly as long.

So, there’s kid-focused coffee shops on one end, Starbucks in the middle, and then those hipster-cool coffee spots at the other end. (Where you are stared at like a leper if you walk in with a toddler. Um, with your giant headphones on you can’t even hear my kid singing Pop Goes The Weasel.)

Anyhoo…In the fall the little and I started having a weekly date at another local spot Cafe 932. And while not at all kid-focused, after a couple weeks of our regular patronage, they so thoughtfully produced a little basket of toys. Sigh. Isn’t kindness wonderful? Not to mention the fact that they seriously, have the best peanut-butter-chocolate-chip cookie on the face of the earth. I dare you to doubt me…I’ll mail you one.

And just to prove that after drinking all that coffee, we actually do get outside once in a while, I give you the wintery beach.

I’m going to out my inner nerd a bit here and tell you a funny(ish?) story. For ages, I had been mentioning to the hubs that I want a rock polisher (blush). I thought it would be fun! We often come home from the beach with weighed down pockets full of treasures. It seemed like a great parent-tot project, magically polish up a lovely little rock, all cold and smooth. Please tell me I’m not the only one who thought glossy rocks were cool as a child?!

So, the holidays come and go, and the we’re driving in the car one day and the Mr. mentions that he was going to get me a rock polisher for Christmas. Intrigued, I launch into a barrage of questions. And do you want to know why he didn’t buy one? (I’m sure the suspense is killing you.) Because it takes TWO WHOLE MONTHS to polish a rock!! And the machine makes NOISE the entire time. Because, hello, it’s tumbling ROCKS. AND, he read that sometimes the machines break down before your rock actually gets polished! Because again, it’s noisily tumbling ROCKS for TWO WHOLE MONTHS…inside your house. For some reason, I found this all to be completely hysterical. Maybe you had to be there?

So that’s it kids, if you made it through this whole blabbery post, you deserve a medal, or at least the bestest weekend wishes I can mentally send your way. xxxxxxxx

A New Year, A New Nat

Thanks so much to everyone who commented on the last post and sent me messages! It’s so very nice to know that you’re glad I’m back.

2012 was a rough year for me. It started out on a happy note with the birth of my bestie’s daughter, but not long after that I had this nagging feeling of unsettledness that I just couldn’t shake. I mentioned it numerous times to the Mr. and I think that he thought I was being a bit of a loon. Shortly into the summer, things began to unravel and my normally quite, happy life was shaken up. There was family drama, illnesses, loss and death. And I stepped back from blogging.

I tried my best to stay strong and positive, but it took a little while to feel completely like myself again. Then, in December when I was whole heartedly enjoying the holiday fun with my little lady, funny things kept popping up that made me miss blogging. I was googling things like “how to remove crayon from walls”, “how to remove melted crayon from clothing” and “how to remove permanent marker from toddler’s face” and I felt like sharing all that nuttiness with you.

So. Where does that leave us now? Back to blogging (yay!) but perhaps with a slight shift in focus. I have barely shopped (gasp) these past 6 months, so I may mix up my content a bit. I hope you’ll bear with me while I find my new voice and focus. All that being said, I couldn’t help but show you two of my current favourite accessories:

A Christmas gift from my man and lady, I haven’t taken it off since I opened it.

And, these totally awesome Kenneth Cole shoes. Leopard – Gooooood. Loafers – Goooooood. ‘ Nuff said.

Fun Things FRIDAY

What’s better to brighten up a dreary January day then a little bling (do people still say bling??)? Club Monaco Feather Necklace

These boots were made for happy dancing. I’m finally catching up to the coolness of my toddler by getting my OWN pair Hunter boots. Perfect for chic puddle jumping and other important activities. Thanks L&B!!!

I’m all about hot drinks (I know you’re surprised) and this combo is beyond delicious.

Hello new mug. There’s something about getting a new mug that makes my heart extra happy. It’s kinda like getting new sheets. What house hold items put a spring in your step?

….Sooo, I can’t totally ignore the elephant in the room, I’ve been gone for a while I know. More on that later, but for now, I’d just like to say that I’ve missed you! I hope you’ve been well and happy and healthy. And I hope that our friendship can flourish once again. AND that you’ll forgive me because I may have forgotten how to spell. xx
